Level Designer (Skill-Based Games) - New Games Unit

New Games

Description

Papaya is one of the world’s fastest-growing mobile gaming companies, delivering delight to millions of users globally. We’re headquartered in Tel Aviv, with a strong culture of ownership, speed, and excellence.

Our New Games unit operates like an independent studio within Papaya, building the company’s next growth engines in the real money skill-gaming space. We move fast, prototype bold ideas, and rely on data, iteration, and player insight to create new competitive experiences for global audiences.

As a Level Designer in New Games, you’ll design, balance, and optimize the skill challenges that define our real-money games. Instead of static “levels,” you’ll work with dynamic seeds, skill variations, and tournament structures, tuning gameplay parameters to ensure fairness, engagement, and replayability.

Your work will directly shape how players experience competition, progression, and mastery, the foundation of our skill-based economy.

  • Define and tune difficulty and fairness curves that ensure every match feels competitive and rewarding
  • Collaborate with product, design, and analytics teams to interpret player performance data and optimize engagement
  • Prototype new gameplay variations that test different skill expressions and pacing
  • Benchmark genre leaders and identify trends in skill-based and competitive design

  • Experience using data to drive design improvements and validate hypotheses
  • Familiarity with tools for content generation and configuration (Unity or similar)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for competitive gaming, tournaments, and mastery-driven experiences

Bonus Points

  • Experience in real-money games or competitive multiplayer environments
  • Familiarity with automated seed generation and procedural design
  • Analytical background or comfort working with BI dashboards and game data
